Deal of the Day – Zen Cart

Deal of the Day for Zen Cart (WOD_MZC) is a module for Zen Cart.  It allows you as owner of a website based on ZenCart to push a specific product on sidebar (left or right area) of your online shop as a “limited time offer offer”. Default offer time is 24 hours.  It is a marketing tool.

All products come with one year free upgrade.

Features

• Deal Of Day (DOD) is displayed as side bar. Once files are copied into website and database is patched it appears in the website list of sidebars (admin area). By request  and FREE OF CHARGE it can be setup as a “big box”  on front page. This can be done by us because require change of code in the home page for example and slight changes into core of DOD. It does not work on sidebar and BOX on the same page.
• The module take one product from “specials” random from all specials or only specific products from specials marked as DOD  and display it until end of deal (the end date and time is reached). Anytime he consider, the administrator can setup the end of the deal for a specific product. Then all is happen automatically.
• Upcoming products can be added (special price for pre-order)
• Specific products from specials can be marked to be considered and displayed as DOD (Deal Of Day) when the counter is zero for current deal and a new product will be displayed as DOD.
• Initial (start of DOD) end time of DOD can be anytime in future (24 hours is default value taken at the end of the period)
• Once the counter is zero there are three automated actions that can be setup and take place:
  • The counter is reset, 24 hours are added and the current DOD stay there.
  • A new new product is taken randomly from “Specials” (all product enabled in specials) and 24 hours deal time is setup for the new DOD.
  • A new new product is taken randomly from specials product enabled and marked as DOD.  24 hours deal time is setup for the new DOD.
• Left quantity on stock can be shown or not.
• Can be setup to sell over stock or not.
• If stock is zero and the system is setup to sell over-stock and left stock is setup to be shown, then when the page is (re)loaded the left quantity is replaced with a slogan: “Do not miss out”.
• If the quantity is 0(zero) and sell overstock is not allowed then a new product is taken from specials and the counter is restarted (24 hours)
• In any circumstances if there is no other products to chose from enabled in specials then the existing one is extended as Deal of the Day (24 hours).
• If there is any predicted error then Deal of the Day will display a short message.  A short message is displayed.
• The “Deal Of the day” as sidebar box will display:
  • image of the product taken from database (link to the details product page)
  • old price & new cut price taken from database
  • the countdown (to the moment when this offer will expire)
  • quantity left (if it is setup to be displayed, it is taken from the database)
  • BUY NOW button (link to the details product page)
  • FaceBook like button. Full url (link to your product page, image and short product description will be sent to the FaceBook “wall” of the user who liked the product.
• The “Deal Of the day” section (eCommerce website – front end) will contain a box where are displayed (This is not part of standard installationsee top):
  • image of the product taken from database (link to the details product page)
  • short description, truncated at 250 words (default) and read more – link to the details product page
  • old price & new cut price taken from database
  • the countdown (to the moment when this offer will expire)
  • quantity left (if it is setup to be displayed, it is taken from the database)
  • BUY NOW button (link to the details product page)
  • Custom text displayed on top line (set up from admin area)
  • FaceBook like button. Full url (link to your product page, image and short product description will be sent to the FaceBook “wall” of the user who liked the product.
• Deal of the Day is working in the most complex scenarios for example:
  • display an unique end of deal time does not matter where is the user (time zone/country)
  • that end of the deal is the real one setup by the administrator based of the local time of the administrator computer (setup as parameters at initial configuration)
  • at the same time the “locals” of the hosting server where the website is hosted and the locale from zencart does not influence the counter.
• To change layout (background image and button – buy now, is as simple as creation your artwork and uploading in a specific folder
• All parameters are in one place only and you can change what you wish to display: – image & image size (ratio is kept), -name of product and description, – how many word from description, – text alignment -image alignment, – font size for slogan (top).
• Administrator can and must setup his timezone and UTC (the same config area) for example timezone:Australia/Sydney and UTC: 11

How to use

1. Go to your admin area from the website where this module was installed
2. Go to [catalog]->[Specials]
a) Add one or more products as specials (if you have not yet).
When you are adding special products please DO NOT fill in any field related with Deal of the Day! All you write will be just deleted / not considered during the creation of special product.
b) edit the product you wish to be displayed as Deal of the Day and:

• Make sure the special price is SPECIAL (price cut of and its available date is in future)
• Select “Is Deal” – drop down (it will be displayed as deal of the day)
• Write “End deal date” in specified format / MUST BE IN FUTURE but not biger than the available date of the special
• Write “End deal time” in specified format
• Write “Deal text” – it will be displayed on top
• Select option from drop down  ”Sell Over Stock”
• Select option from drop down  ”Show Qty left”
• Select action from drop down
• Select from drop down “Mark as Deal of the day”
• UPDATE

In list of the specials you must see in red bold that “Is Deal” and when expire the deal.
DO NOT setup many products as deal, only the first will be take.

3. To change background image, font and colours please read documentation included into the package.

How to install

Once you will will have the product just unpack it (.zip or .tar) and follow all the instructions.
It is a standard addon Zencart, you need to copy files into filesystem
You must alter only one existing file and apply a patch to database (add fields to only one table) via ZenCart Tools (admin area).
To complete the task you need ftp access and access to your administrative ZenCart website (full permissions)
Once all above is done
- setup your specials products that will be considered and displayed as DOD
- go to sidebars area (boxes layout – admin) and enable it.

We do install it for you for FREE if you cannot manage. We need access to admin area and filesystem and all will done and checked for you. 

You will get full refund if we will not be able to make it to run properly on your system.
