What logo really is?
To understand what a logo is meant to do, we first must know what a logo is. A logo’s design is for immediate recognition, inspiring trust, admiration, loyalty and an implied superiority.
The business logo (ideogram) is the image embodying companies. Logos are meant to represent companies' brands or corporate identities and foster their immediate customer recognition.
The business logo is one aspect of a company's commercial brand or economic entity, and its shapes, colors, fonts, and images usually are different from others in a similar market. Logos are also used to identify organizations and other non-commercial entities.
Simplicity in logo design is what makes a logo memorable and easier to recognise.
Why to invest in professional logos design?
Professional logo designers have an actual design process that involves research, sketching, conceptualising, and reflection.
Reasons to invest in professional logo design are:
- A logo is the very first impression people get of your company.
- A logo needs longevity.
- A logo needs to be original.
- A logo should look professional.
- A logo should reflect the time and thought gone in to designing it.
- A logo is the starting point of your whole corporate image.
What you can expected from logos?
An effective logo is:
A simple logo design allows for easy recognition and allows the logo to be versatile & memorable. Good logos feature something unique without being overdrawn.
An effective logo design should be memorable and this is achieved by having a simple, yet, appropriate logo.
The logo will stand the test of time. After 10, 20, 50 years, the logo still be effective.
Leave trends to the fashion industry - Trends come and go, and when you’re talking about changing a pair of jeans, or buying a new dress, that’s fine, but where your brand identity is concerned, longevity is key. Don’t follow the pack. Stand out.
An effective logo should be able to work across a variety of mediums and applications. For this reason a logo should be designed in vector format, to ensure that it can be scaled to any size. The logo should be able to work both in horizontal and vertical formats.
The logo have to be still effective if: printed in one colour, smal print like size of a postage stamp, printed on something as large as a billboard or printed in reverse (ie. light logo on dark background).
How you position the logo should be appropriate for its intended purpose. For example, if you are designing a logo for children’s toys store, it would be appropriate to use a childish font & colour scheme. This would not be so appropriate for a law firm.
